Offering a healthy choice
I was honored to have been part of the Herbivorous Butcher grand opening. The brother and sister entrepreneurs behind the business are dear friends of mine. I was so impressed with their dedication and passion I wanted to help make their dream come true.
The Herbivorous Butcher offers “100% vegan, cruelty-free meat and cheese alternatives that capture the best flavors, textures, and nutrients most people are used to without their negative impacts on health, animals, and the environment.”
Not only vegans but also those who are lactose intolerant or have allergies have the choice of vegan cheeses that are gluten-free. They also can choose gluten-free Pulled Pork and Italian Sausage.
Although I’m not a vegan, I appreciate the idea of offering people healthy choices.
After having a heart attack, I watch my diet more closely and try and lower my intake of sugars and starches. I still can’t resist grabbing an ice cream every once in a while but I give myself grace. I’m not perfect but the more I make healthier choices the easier it becomes.
Offering your customers something new and different is smart business. But giving them choices that are healthier for our bodies and for the planet is even smarter.
A study by the National Academy of Science found that “livestock-based food production is an important and pervasive way humans impact the environment. It causes about one-fifth of global greenhouse gas emissions.”
I believe more and more businesses are thinking this way – following their beliefs and providing high quality, innovative options. Companies like The Herbivorous Butcher can do well by doing good.
